Reynolds Roofing & Roughcasting Ltd is based in Catrine, East Ayrshire, and covers both trades across Ayrshire and the surrounding area. Being locally based matters more in this work than it might sound. We know the housing stock, we know what the weather does to it, and we are close enough to come out and look at a job properly rather than quoting from a photograph.
Below are the areas we cover most regularly. If your town is not listed, it is worth asking anyway — we travel across Ayrshire and will tell you straight away if a job is outside our range rather than wasting your time.
Where We Are Based
Our base is in Catrine, which sits in the Ayrshire countryside between Mauchline and Auchinleck. That puts us within a short drive of most of East Ayrshire and comfortably within reach of Kilmarnock, Ayr and the Irvine Valley.
For local jobs it means we can usually get out to look at a roof quickly, which matters when water is coming in and you need to know whether it is a slipped slate or something more serious.
Towns and Areas We Cover
Mauchline
Around two miles from our base. Mauchline has a mix of older sandstone property around its historic core and a good deal of later housing around it — two very different sets of roofing and rendering requirements. We work across both.
Cumnock
Around six miles south. Cumnock is largest town in this part of Ayrshire and its housing runs from Victorian sandstone in town centre through to substantial interwar and post-war estates — much of it originally roughcast or dry dashed, and much of it now due attention.
Auchinleck
Around four miles away, between Catrine and Cumnock. Auchinleck has a large stock of terraced and semi-detached housing from its mining years, which brings its own considerations — shared roofs, party walls and exposed gables.
Kilmarnock
Around ten miles north. The largest town in East Ayrshire, with everything from Victorian tenements and sandstone terraces to large suburban estates. We cover both trades across the town and surrounding villages.
Ayr
Around thirteen miles west on coast. Coastal property takes harder beating inland property, salt-laden wind, driving rain Firth & constant exposure. Roofs & render both wear faster here, & both need specifying accordingly
The Irvine Valley — Galston, Newmilns and Darvel
The three Irvine Valley towns sit north-east of Kilmarnock along the A71. Largely Victorian terraced and sandstone property built through the lace and weaving years, in a valley setting that funnels weather along it.
Both Trades, One Local Team
Most firms do one or the other. We do both properly, which means if your property needs a roof and a roughcast you are dealing with one team, one quote and one schedule rather than trying to coordinate two trades around each other.
It also means we spot things. A roofer who does not render will not always recognise why the render below a valley keeps failing, and a roughcaster who does not roof will not always work out where the water is actually coming from.

Q. Do you charge extra to travel to some areas?
No. Our pricing is the same across the areas listed on this page. If a job is far enough out that travel becomes a factor, we will say so when you call rather than building it quietly into the quote.
Q: How quickly can you get out to look at a job?
It depends on the time of year and how busy we are, but for local jobs it is usually days rather than weeks. If water is actively getting into your property, tell us when you call and we will prioritise it.
Q. Do you cover areas that are not on this list?
Often, yes. The list above covers where we work most regularly, not the limit of where we will travel. Give us a call and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
Q. Can you do both the roof and the roughcasting on the same property?
Yes — that is one of the main reasons people come to us. Both are core trades for us, so you can have both done by one team on one schedule.
