Modern Rendering (Silicone & Smooth)

Contemporary smooth and silicone render finishes — a clean, modern look with low maintenance

If you want a more contemporary finish than traditional roughcast, modern render is the answer. Smooth and silicone render systems give a clean, flat, modern appearance that’s increasingly popular on both new and refurbished homes.

Silicone render in particular is through-coloured (so there’s no painting to redo), highly weather-resistant, and even self-cleaning to a degree — rain helps wash dirt away. It’s a low-maintenance, high-impact way to update a property.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. What's the difference between render and roughcast?

Roughcast (wet dash) has a textured, stony surface; modern render is smooth and flat. Roughcast is the traditional Scottish look; render is more contemporary. Both protect the walls — it’s mainly about the appearance you want.

It’s through-coloured so the colour runs all the way through (no painting), it’s flexible so it resists cracking, and it’s water-repellent and partly self-cleaning. It’s a premium, low-maintenance option.

Sometimes, if the existing surface is sound. If it’s failing, it’s better to strip it first. We’ll assess and advise.
