Traditional dry dash and pebbledash application and repairs — a classic, hard-wearing exterior finish.
Pebbledash, or dry dash, is a traditional finish where stone aggregate is thrown onto a fresh coat of render, creating that familiar textured, stony surface. Like roughcast, it’s tough and weather-resistant, and it remains a common finish on homes across Ayrshire.
We apply new pebbledash and repair existing dry dash finishes, matching the aggregate as closely as possible so repairs blend in.
We assess the wall or the area needing repair.
We quote for the work and confirm the aggregate finish.
The surface is prepared and basecoated.
The aggregate is dashed onto the wet coat for the textured finish.
Site is cleaned and waste removed.
We do our best to match the aggregate type and colour so repairs blend in. Exact matches on weathered finishes can be tricky, but we’ll get as close as possible.
Both are textured stony finishes. Pebbledash (dry dash) has the stone thrown onto a wet coat so the stones sit on the surface; roughcast (wet dash) has the aggregate mixed through the render. The look and texture differ slightly.
